born in 1920 in New York, moved to Bershire County, MASSACHUSETTS, Enlisted in Springfield, October 30th 1942.

served as a T-5, Technician/Radioman and Rifleman in the 179th Infantry part of the famed 45th "Thunderbird" Infantry Division. Staring on September 10, 1943 in "Operation Avalanche" the 179th took on the Germans 16th Panzer Division during the invasion of Italy. On the 23rd of September he was wounded and returned to the U.S. and received a Honorable Discharge in October 1944.
