There are several ways you can help us preserve the history of World War II and the 45th Infantry Division in particular. We are looking for interviewers to collect Veteran's stories for the Veterans History Project. We need people who can transcribe taped interviews into word documents. We need people who can transfer paper documents to MS Word documents. We are also looking for Living Historians to attend displays and reenactments. | ![]() | ||

About 1400 World War II Veterans die each day. Before they are all gone we would like to preserve the memories of as many as possible. We need people who are willing to spend time with Veterans getting to learn their life and wartime experiences. The interview can be audio and or video taped. We will help train in interview procedures and help develop questions to ask. We need people with good listening and typing skills to transcribe interviews. Some of the interviews will have been done by us and some of them will be from collections done by others. In order to use them on the website they will need to be made into a MS Word document. It can be typed directly or written down legibly and given to some one with word processing skills. We need people who are good at word processing or have a good text recognition program on their computer. We get letters, Diaries, transcripts of interviews, and government documents that we need transferred to electronic format to be used on the website. If you have the time and good typing skills, we could use your help.
A central part of our mission is accomplished by Living Historians,Reenactors. They set up public displays portraying World War II figures. We do displays for schools, boyscout troops and special events. You will receive training during training weekends and by attending simulated combat events.
